Saturday Music that Needs a Little Squeeze

AS a young man, THE FUTURIST! loved the British band that called itself Squeeze. He has talked about his admiration and obsession with their sound in an earlier post. Today seemed like another good day to listen to some Squeeze ... and this time a little tune with a wistful story attached ... a song with a country flavoring. Listen to the story it tells. How many songs today sung by pop groups tell ... tales? Time to sit back with a potable and ponder.

Squeeze was one of the most important bands of my adolescence. Argybargy was THE album amongst me and my friends in 1980, and at a house party one cold winter night I had my first kiss with Eleanor K (now a quasi-celebrity) while Separate Beds was playing. Even today, whenever I listen to that album, it recalls memories of that night.

Argybargy is to me what the madeleine was to Proust.

So glad to bring back a happy memory, Andrew. THE FUTURIST! has many a happy memory himself of days of old listening to his Squeeze LPs.

Ah, yes, I know this one. Bit of a country flavour.
