Dara: William Castle was THE King of gimmicks. There is a great dvd box set arriving soon with several of his better films ... including MR SARDONICUS!
I've read much about his gimmicks, but I've yet to see one of his films! Probably not the same without them. Although, you could always watch it in your car and put on your seat-belt.

During its original theatrical release some theatres installed seat-belts so you couldn't be "shocked out of your seat".
Seems like a bit of a fire hazard!

Oh, no, Dara ... not in your car ... well, maybe at the Drive-In Theater. You'll have to rent one of his films. Try THE TINGLER.
HOUSE ON HAUNTED HILL's another good place to start.
